artist critique: Burial   My first encounter with Burial was their self-titled album.  With a very earthy, downtempo style,  Burial still manages to keep the beats energetic enough to maintain a giant dancefloor presence.  The ethereal beats easily consume you and force you to dissect every layer of sound.  The highlight of Burial comes from the second track, titled Distant Lights, which features a driving beat that keeps the energy high somehow, while adhering to what can only be described as minimalist downtempo style. The juxtaposition of high energy percussion against a low key melody and rhythm allows this to be possible.  It achieves

ah, childhood, its only as far away as you let it be.  mine is left behind much like the derelict shells of the cars we played in.  left behind, but still progressing.  my two childhood friends still stand shoulder to shoulder with me, and we know our roots run deep as blood.   Growing up, we were all aspiring hot rodders, we were regulars at car shows, and as we grew, so did our experiences... while i spent more time standing back and watching, while attending to school first, my best friend worked for numerous body shops and restoration shops, and has now manifested the passion throrugh a chevrolet bowtie tattoo and scalloped flames up his
